🔧 Preparing an Objective Type Test

❶ Determine Objective — why are you making this test? What to test? e.g., test knowledge of Cell Cycle after teaching it
❷ Content Selection — questions must relate to what was actually taught; do not include unrelated material
❸ Test Analytical Skills — go beyond simple recall; also assess higher-order thinking abilities
❹ Uniformity — arrange questions in proper order: by difficulty level, by class/grade level, by mental age of children
❺ Language & Grammar — must be absolutely correct; children should not get puzzled or confused by poor wording

🎯 Achievement Test — Concept

Created to measure specific skills and knowledge in a particular field — checks if the child has acquired that knowledge
Tells how much the student has learned — diagnostic in nature; assesses achievement level
Examples: SAT (scholastic assessment for college admission in Western countries), NEET (MBBS admission — tests if student achieved in 11th–12th)

Select Content — choose from the syllabus/topics actually taught
Select Objective — decide which specific field or skill area to test
Follow Bloom's Taxonomy — use the cognitive skills pyramid: Knowledge → Application (and higher levels) so cognitive abilities are applied
Include questions at multiple cognitive levels — not just knowledge recall but also application-based questions

✅ Attributes of a Good Achievement Test

❶ Validity — test must measure exactly what it intends to measure. The exam has validity because it tests knowledge; it is used year after year for this reason — paper-pencil exam checks what we want to test
❷ Reliability — consistency of results; if the same assessment is used again and again, it should give the same/similar outcomes
❸ Objectivity — no bias of any kind in scoring; marks are based purely on how the child responded, not on personal factors
❹ Proper Question Selection — questions should be selected carefully; must not be that first chapter was taught but questions come from the last chapter
❺ Clear Instructions — providing instructions to students is extremely important; they must understand what is expected
❻ Concise Questions — all types of questions should be very concise and to the point
❼ Feasibility — test must be conductible in real life/real environment: according to time, money, and human resources available — e.g., online test if physical is not feasible
